Jono Grant, Composer, Producer and Multi-instrumentalist has built a diverse portfolio of audio work over the last 20 years, spanning many genres and every form of media.He has scored over 300 episodes for numerous series including “Undergrads” (Teletoon/MTV), “Radio Free Roscoe” (Family Channel) and “Captain Flamingo” (YTV), earning a 2006 Gemini nomination for best original score in an animated series. Jono recently scored the Lifetime film “An Officer and a Murderer” nominated for a Canadian Screen Award 2014 in the category: “Best Original Music Score for a program”. He also just completed the second season of the pre-school series “The Chica Show” for NBC KIDS/PBS Sprout. In his very first effort as a film composer, Jono earned a Genie nomination for best score in the feature “Jacob Two Two Meets the Hooded Fang”, and followed up with a variety of productions that included composing additional music for the bio-pic “Trudeau” (CBC) and “Trump: The Unauthorized Biography” (ABC).Jono works mainly out of his personal studio, Victory Drive Recording, located in Toronto’s Leslieville. Victory Drive is a destination for performing artists as well as film and television producers, featuring state-of-the-art equipment and an abundant collection of eclectic and vintage instruments. Among the artists who have worked at Victory Drive is Toronto-based jazz composer and saxophonist Richard Underhill. Jono has co-produced three albums of Underhill’s, including the Juno award-winning “Tales from the Blue Lounge”. He has also worked in various capacities with performers such as Kim Stockwood, Big Rude Jake, and The Tea Party. From old-school tape-and-razor blade editing to the latest techniques in modern sound design, Jono is skilled in all forms of music production. Jono started his musical career more than 20 years ago, making his early mark as a composer, producer and performer with a multitude of bands including the eccentric jazz/lounge outfit “Jaymz Bee and The Royal Jelly Orchestra”, pop-poet “John Southworth”, and the outrageous bebop-rappers “The Shuffle Demons”. Jono studied composition, harmony and music theory privately with teacher/music analyst Michael Leibson and is well versed in writing and arranging for all types of music and ensembles.
